You can always tell when Media Matters starts to get frantic.
One story after another on its site Monday morning was trying to tell liberals that even though there was nothing that showed collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
But Hillary and Russia collusion? Again, let’s recall these words from the Wall Street Journal editorial board.
“Strip out the middlemen, and it appears that Democrats paid for Russians to compile wild allegations about a U.S. presidential candidate. Did someone say ‘collusion’?”
No, no one is saying collusion at Media Matters – not when it comes to hard factual evidence that in fact the Clinton campaign was colluding with Russians. Heaven forbid that David Brock obsession Hillary had actually done anything – gasp! – wrong!
Media Matters’ real agenda is to protect and preserve Hillary and her reputation..
So since that is news not fit to print at MM because it is true, the Manafort story dominates. There are eight- say again eight!- Manafort-related stories front and center on the MM site, all designed to give the impression that there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
If in fact the news is not fit to print because it might lead to a Hillary indictment, the obvious Media Matters answer is to A)ignore it and B) point the finger at somebody else and run with a saturation of fake news. So the headline story at MM is, but of course, about the “conservative media bubble.” It reads:
Manafort indictment shows why conservatives have an alternative media bubble
Ironically, in seeking to slam conservative media the story unintentionally shows just how the liberal media game is played with people inside the hostile anti-Trump Deep State. First came the Friday leak from the Mueller investigation to CNN, something that Congressman Trey Gowdy immediately pointed out was illegal. Then Monday morning, reports MM, was this chain of liberal media daisies. Says MM:
“Just before 8 this morning, The New York Times broke the news that five months into a sprawling investigation into ties between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russian officials, special counsel Robert Mueller was filing charges against former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his business associate and fellow campaign aide Rick Gates. On CNN and MSNBC, the indictment and pending arrests dominated coverage for the rest of the morning, as anchors, reporters, and legal analysts explained who the pair are, what the charges could concern, and what the news could portend for the future of Mueller’s investigation.”
And right there is the way the liberal media game works. After a Friday CNN leak alerting the home-team left wing media, the liberal media tag team was ready to roll by Monday morning. The “news” begins with The New York Timesat 8:00 a.m. in the morning and then CNN and MSNBC use the news so they can have round-the-clock coverage with “anchors, reporters, and legal analysts” assailing the Trump campaign and the President for something that never happened and for which there is no evidence. But it all sounds so ominous and serves the purpose of running stories that have at their core not a shred of truth.
Meanwhile the media “watchdogs” at Media Matters – whose real agenda is to protect and preserve Hillary and her reputation – make it a point to say the real news is something that isn’t and something that is real news isn’t.
Clever, yes?
Actually, no. Revealing for sure, but not clever.
